Powerful, versatile, compact, and reliable, the new Imperio Pro IMP118 active subwoofer from professional audio manufacturer AVANTE Audio is now shipping. Featuring high quality components, precision audio engineering, a robust enclosure, a powerful integrated amplifier, and a flexible internal DSP, it delivers high quality low frequency audio output suitable for a range of applications. With a variety of hardware options, it can be deployed in numerous configurations for medium-to-large-scale concerts, parties and events.
At the heart of the Imperio Pro IMP118 is a powerful 18-inch high-power transducer driven by a high-energy 4-inch (100mm) voice coil motor assembly. It is implemented through an efficient bass-reflex system design to deliver exceptionally linear frequency response from 32Hz – 130 Hz (-10dB) / 38 Hz -130Hz (-3dB) with a maximum SPL of 136 dB (peak). An integrated 3600-Watt (peak) Class-D power amplifier provides ample headroom and minimizes distortion, ensuring highly responsive deep sub bass output.
The enclosure is also fitted with an advanced DSP system that allows configuration for a wide variety of different applications and speaker arrangements. Access to the DSP settings is provided via a large backlit LCD display on the rear panel. An intuitive menu interface allows quick and easy setup, which is navigated using a single push-to-select rotary control.
DSP presets are provided for normal solo cabinet deployment as well as more advanced cardioid and end-fire coverage control patterns using multiple cabinets. The DSP also features FIR filters for accurate LP-crossover settings that can be configured to 60 Hz, 70Hz, 80 Hz, 90 Hz, 100 Hz or 120 Hz. The menu interface can also be used to reverse the driver polarity, enter a delay time / distance and alter the volume level to optimize the signal gain structure.
The enclosure is designed to withstand the rigors of professional touring applications. Constructed from premium CNC-machined Birch plywood, it has a sleek black polyurea finish that is very durable as well as a black powder coated steel grille to protect the speaker cone. It is fitted with a pair of recessed carry handles on the sides and features an XLR input socket alongside an XLR output for linking together additional active speakers. Power is supplied via a locking IP65-rated socket, which can’t become accidentally disconnected during use. A locking IP65-rated output link socket is also provided, allowing the power supply for multiple speakers to be ‘daisy chained’ from a single outlet. The unit can be used globally as it is compatible with a power supply of 100~240V AC 50/60Hz. A protective rain cover is also provided for the amplifier panel and connection sockets, allowing for safe use outdoors in wet conditions.
A variety of integrated hardware accessories allow for versatile deployment. Firstly, a standard M20 threaded speaker pole slot is located on the top of the cabinet to allow a mid/top cabinet (for example one of AVANTE Audio’s Achromic X Series models) or small configuration of Imperio Pro IMP205 compact line array modules to be mounted above. The bottom of the cabinet is also fitted with skids, which fit into corresponding shallow recesses on the top for when multiple units are stacked. A convenient spring-loaded locking system then allows the cabinets to be secured together without the need for straps or any other additional hardware. Finally, the cabinet is fitted with 20 captive nut M10 fly points for applications that require the speaker to be permanently mounted overhead.
Weighing in at 101 lbs. / 45.8 kgs., the unit can be easily managed by one or two people. To allow convenient transportation, a dedicated caster board (Imperio Pro IMC118) is available as an optional accessory. This locks securely to the bottom or the front of the cabinet, with the later option covering the speaker grille to provide added protection during transportation and storage.
“The result of years of R&D and extensive real-world field testing, the Imperio Pro IMP118 is an 18-inch active sub that meets every expectation of audio professionals,” enthuses Avante Audio’s Product Engineer, Tony Mirador. “It combines a powerful Class D amplifier with a versatile DSP and premium speaker driver with a large 4” voice coil to deliver exceptional output. Building on the firm foundations laid by AVANTE Audio’s original Achromic Series of reliable, aesthetically pleasing, and sonically impressive full range active loudspeakers, the new Achromic X Series inherits all the positive traits and useful features of the originals while introducing two major new additions. Available in 10-inch, 12-inch and 15-inch variants, all three of the new speakers feature Bluetooth® 5.0+ for wireless audio connectivity as well as a dedicated iOS app which allows remote control of levels and DSP settings as well as saving and recalling of presets.
The Achromic X Series offers a versatile collection of active loudspeaker cabinets that offer powerful output, detailed audio clarity, advanced built-in DSP, and sleek exterior designs. Created for musicians, DJs, bands, houses of worship, audio production companies and rental houses, the Achromic X Series speakers are equally suited to permanent installation as they are to one-off and touring productions.
Thanks to the addition of Bluetooth® 5.0+ technology, audio can be streamed directly to any of the Achromic X Series speakers wirelessly from a compatible cell phone, tablet, or laptop. A dedicated iOS app (compatible with both iPhone and iPad) is also available, which allows comprehensive control over the integrated 2-channel mixer and comprehensive DSP. The app allows level and three-band EQ + high pass filter control for each channel independently as well as selection of DSP presets (e.g. Live, Club, Speech) and configuration of the internal Delay feature. This allows audio engineers to make adjustments remotely while listening to the speaker’s output, making for a quicker and more convenient workflow. In addition, the app allows you to create Scenes – which are snapshots of all the current level and DSP settings – to be saved and recalled in the future. This would allow, for example, an audio tech can equalize the speaker system to optimize the sound in the room, then name and save as a scene for that particular venue. Next time you return to this venue, you can simply recall the scene and you are ready.
The most compact model in the Achromic X Series is the A10X, which features a 10-inch woofer with a 2-inch voice coil alongside a 1-inch HF compression driver. These are driven by a 250W RMS Class D amplifier (LF) paired with a 50W RMS Class AB amplifier (HF), delivering a peak SPL of 121dB and a frequency response of 70Hz-20kHz. In the middle of the range is the A12X, which combines a 12-inch woofer with a 2.5-inch voice coil and a 1.35-inch HF compression driver. It features 350W RMS Class D (LF) and 50W RMS Class AB (HF) amplifiers, and produces a frequency range of 60Hz-20kHz with a peak SPL of 123dB. Finally, the largest model in the range is the A15X. Pairing a 15-inch woofer with a 2.5-inch voice coil and a 1.35-inch HF compression driver, it too features 350W RMS Class D (LF) and 50W RMS Class AB (HF) amplifiers. However, its larger speaker cone allows for an extended frequency range of 45Hz-20kHz and an increased maximum SPL of 124dB. All three models have been carefully designed with components specifically chosen to provide high SPL levels while ensuring smooth coverage across all frequencies in lightweight packages ranging from the A10X at 25 lbs. (11.3 kg) up to the A15X at 42 lbs. (19.1 kg).
Designed for both durability and portability, all three Achromic X Series models share the same distinctive look, matte black finish, and versatile feature set. They are manufactured from robust H-PP molded polypropylene and finished with a tough 1.2mm steel grille, which provides protection for the speaker drivers. The cabinets are fitted with ergonomic handles, both on the top and side, making them convenient to carry and set up. They feature an integrated pole mount which can be used with a standard speaker stand or a dedicated wall mounting accessory (WMB001), sold separately.
Further demonstrating the versatility of the Achromic X Series design, all three models can also be used as floor-standing ‘wedge’ monitors. Each speaker features a 45˚ angled side panel that has footing ridges to provide stabilization when used in this configuration. In addition, demonstrating the level of attention to detail that has gone into the design of these speakers, the logo badge on the front of each cabinet is rotatable to allow for both vertical and horizontal deployment. Further flexibility is provided by anti-slip rubber feet fitted to the bottom of the cabinets, allowing the speakers to stand directly on a sub or stage riser, as well as M10 threaded rigging bolts to allow the cabinets to be flown.
Every model in the Achromic X Series is fitted with a large backlit LCD display on its rear panel, which can be used to configure the Bluetooth® 5.0+ connection and setup the DSP (as an alternative to the Achromic X app). Flexibility is also provided by way of connectivity, as each model features a built-in 2-channel mixer. Channel 1 offers a choice between RCA (phono), 3.5mm jack and Bluetooth® 5.0+ inputs, while Channel 2 features a combo XLR / ¼” jack socket which is switchable between Mic and Line level. Each channel has a dedicated level control and an XLR output socket is also provided to allow multiple active speakers to be daisy chained.
“Since its launch in 2017, the original Achromic Series has sold extremely well and proved popular with a wide variety of audio professionals working on everything from parties and conferences to installation projects in bars, nightclubs, theaters and events centers,” explains Avante Audio’s Product Engineer, Tony Mirador. “In developing the new Achromic X Series we took everything that was good about the original speakers – and there was a lot – then asked ourselves how they could be made even better. The answer was to make a series of small adjustments that together raise the bar even higher in terms of audio quality as well as integrate Bluetooth® 5.0+ to allow for wireless audio streaming and remote setup through a dedicated app. The result is a range of speakers that are extremely easy to use, look great and sound even better, which build on the firm foundations laid by their predecessors and take the Achromic concept to the next level.”

The new AS8 ACDC from AVANTE Audio is a complete portable PA system that can be used absolutely anywhere thanks to its integrated rechargeable battery. Easy to setup, this active column speaker system offers flexible input options including Bluetooth 5.0+ ® wireless connectivity. It is ideal for acoustic solo performers, small bands, comedians and mobile entertainers who want the flexibility to perform everywhere and anywhere without the need for power outlets.
Building on the success of the original AS8, the new AS8 ACDC offers the same combination of portability, connectivity and high quality audio reproduction with the added benefit of an inbuilt 5,000mAh Lithium-Ion battery, which is capable of providing an average run time of 4 to 5 hours. A convenient four-segment LED battery level indicator is provided on the rear of the unit and the same power inlet socket is used to charge the battery and run the system directly from a power supply (100 to 240 VAC 50/60Hz).
The AS8 ACDC’s audio system combines an 8-inch neodymium subwoofer with an array of six precision-aligned 2.75” neodymium high/mid drivers. The subwoofer, which has a 1.5” voice coil and a 28 oz. magnet, is built into a vented enclosure which also contains the battery pack, amplification, and mixer. This system is powered by a 250W RMS (1000W peak) Class D amplifier with a switching power design and delivers a maximum output of 110dB with a frequency response of 180-20kHz.
The mid/high drivers are mounted into a column enclosure and the system is also supplied with an optional spacer column piece. These connect to the sub unit using AVANTE Audio’s proprietary SAM (Secure Array Mount) system, which allows the array column and spacer to lock securely to the sub and to one another without risk of being toppled over. The SAM connection also passes the audio signal from the sub up to the array column, through the spacer if it is used, removing the need for speaker cables and further speeding up setup time.
A flexible 3-channel mixer is built into the sub unit. This features a 2-band EQ, a Power/Clip LED signal indicator and an XLR output for daisy chaining the audio signal to another powered speaker. It offers XLR/TRS combo jack connections on the first two channels (switchable between mic and line level) and a choice between a stereo pair of 1/4” jacks, a single (mono) 1/4″ jack or a 1/8” jack input on the third channel. This allows direct connection of line-level audio sources as well as microphones and even a guitar, making the system ideal for acoustic solo performers, duos, and even small bands without the need for a separate external mixer. The unit is also equipped with Bluetooth 5.0+ ® connectivity, allowing wireless streaming of music from a smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
In addition, the TWS feature uses Bluetooth 5.0+ ® technology to wirelessly link two AS8 ACDC systems to create a stereo pair. This is easy to set up using the dedicated ‘TWS’ and ‘Pair’ buttons, each with corresponding LED indicators, located on the mixer panel. When activated, the TWS mode will automatically root inputs connected to the primary mixer to the secondary speaker, with stereo signals split accordingly between the two systems. Use of the TWS feature does not prevent the use of Bluetooth 5.0+ ® to connect an audio device, this is simply paired to the primary AS8 ACDC system after the TWS pairing is completed.
When used without the optional spacer column (Compact Position), the AS8 ACDC system comes to a height of 47.6” (1208mm) and is ideal for performances from a high stage. When the spacer is used (Extended Position), the AS8 ACDC has a total height of 79.1” (2008mm), which is perfect for performances either from the floor or a low stage. This makes the system a flexible PA choice for musicians, performers, and DJs, playing in bars, lounges, coffee shops and small event spaces.
All three components of the system are constructed from robust molded Polypropylene, finished with 1mm steel grills to protect the speaker cones. The system is supplied with a convenient padded-bag – divided into two separate compartments – for storing and carrying the column speaker and spacer, while the sub unit features an integrated carrying handle. The combined weight of all three components is just 47.8 lbs. (21kg), meaning that the compact system can be easily carried into a venue in a single trip by one person and transported in a small car.
“Offering complete portability and excellent audio quality at an affordable price, the AS8 ACDC is sure to prove popular with all kinds of performers and event professionals,” comments Avante Audio’s Product Engineer, Tony Mirador. “The system’s powerful rechargeable battery and compact, easy to setup, design means that it can be used absolutely anywhere, while its versatile in-built mixer and Bluetooth 5.0+ ® connectivity makes it a flexible PA that can be easily scaled and adapted for use amplifying everything from spoken word to DJ sets, live acoustic music to vocal groups using backing tracks.”

AVANTE Audio is pleased to announce the expansion of its portfolio of professional audio products with the launch of the new Imperio Series. A unique ‘mini’ line array system, Imperio is ideal for installation in small-to-mid-size venues as well as for production companies looking for a flexible active speaker system that can be deployed in various configurations to suit a wide variety of different applications.
The Imperio system consists of three active speaker cabinets alongside a range of accessories and a variety of hardware that allows for both flying and ground-stacking. The Imperio is a versatile array module loaded with a pair of small woofers alongside six high frequency drivers, the Imperio Sub is a powerful sub bass enclosure featuring a single woofer and a built-in crossover and the Imperio SUB210 is a dual woofer model that can be deployed either vertically or horizontally. All three feature internal Class D amplification and can be used together in multiple combinations to build systems suitable for a wide range of different purposes.
“Following the success of AVANTE’s debut active speaker cabinet range, the Achromic Series, which never fails to impress when I demo it to customers, I’m very excited that we are expanding the range with the introduction of the new Imperio Series,” states Chuck Green, Director of Sales for AVANTE Audio. “From the outset, the vision behind AVANTE has been to lead the industry with innovative and professional audio solutions at an affordable price and that is undoubtedly what we have delivered with this new system. Offering a unique ‘mini array’ solution, which can be deployed in a multitude of different configurations, the Imperio Series is ideal for venues which are not large enough for a traditional array system. It is also perfect for production companies who want to invest in a system that is truly flexible. The same cabinets can be arranged in a small ground-stacked setup for a conference one day, and then combined with additional units for a large flown J-hang at a concert the next.”
Designed to offer the ultimate combination of audio clarity, portability and flexibility, the Imperio features two 4.75” Neodymium woofers each with a 1-inch voice coil. These are paired with an array of six 1.75” IDVAT (Inverted Dome Vertical Array Technology) HF drivers to deliver a wide frequency response of 150Hz – 20KHz and an impressive maximum output SPL of 117dB (single box measured on Axis @ 1m).
The unit’s internal Class D 2-way amplifier is rated at 240W (RMS) and features 24-bit DSP with a number of easily selectable configuration settings. There is also an Input Sensitivity Dial as well as LED indicators for Power and Signal/Clip. Both XLR audio and powerCON power input and output sockets are provided, allowing for easy connection between multiple units within an array setup.
Boasting a robust ABS plastic construction, finished with a heavy duty 1.0mm steel grille, the Imperio has a sleek and distinctive design. Despite packing a serious audio punch and being built for a life on the road, the cabinet is compact – 7.3″ x 8.8″ x 12.8″ / 184.8 x 224 x 324mm – and extremely lightweight – 14 lbs. / 6.3 kg.
With a narrow dispersion angle of 90-degrees x 15-degrees, the cabinet is designed to be deployed in a vertical array configuration. It is fitted with in-built rigging hardware that allows up to eight units to be linked together with selectable splay angles of 0, 4, 8 or 12-degrees between cabinets. Using the optional flying kits the sub units can then be mounted either above or below the hang, while a pole mount kit is also available for ground-stacked setups.
The matching Imperio Sub has been rigorously designed and tested to perfectly match the Imperio, providing enhanced low frequency reproduction. It features a 10” woofer with a 2.5” voice coil and a 6th Order Bandpass design, allowing for a punchy maximum SPL of 123dB.
A powerful Class D amplifier delivers 400 watts RMS (800 watts peak) to the driver and the internal crossover can be set to 90Hz or 120Hz. The unit is also phase switchable (0/180) and features a volume control dial as well as status LEDs for Power and Signal/Clip. As with the Imperio model, the sub features XLR and powerCON inputs and outputs to allow daisy-chaining of signal and power connection for quick and easy setup.
Housed in a solid plywood cabinet with a sleek black finish, the Imperio Sub’s speaker cone is protected by a thick 1.2mm steel grille. It is fitted with convenient handles on either side as well as an M20 screw pole mount socket. With relatively small dimensions of 13.8” x 18.3” x 20.7” / 300mm x 465mm x 526mm (L x D x H) and a manageable weight of 49.6 lbs. / 22.5kgs., it is equally suited to temporary event production as it is to permanent venue installation.
For larger venues or applications that require increased bass, the Imperio SUB210 offers a dual 10” woofer configuration each with a 2.5” voice coil. Powered by a Class D digital amplifier delivering 700 watts RMS (1400 watts peak), this model also features a 6th Order Bandpass design and offers an increased maximum SPL of 124dB.
As with the other sub model, the Imperio SUB210 features an internal crossover that can be switched to 90Hz or 120Hz and is also phase switchable (0/180). It is fitted with XLR and powerCON inputs and outputs together with a volume control dial and status LEDs for Power and Signal/Clip. Featuring a flexible design that allows it to be used vertically or horizontally, the robust plywood cabinet is fitted with two M20 Screw Pole Mounts.
In addition to the standard black finish, all of the Imperio Series speaker cabinets and rigging accessories are also available in white. Ideal for houses of worship and any other venue with a white or light color scheme, the white Imperio models feature both white cabinets and white grilles for a distinctively different look.
Offering a unique combination of excellent audio quality and flexibility, the Imperio Series sits between full-size array systems and the traditional point-source cabinets used for installation in small-to-mid-size venues. It is ideal for use in churches, concert venues, nightclubs and theatres looking for a professional, reliable and adaptable high-quality audio solution.
